So often, the important things in our lives can be repaired and remain serviceable for a lifetime of use and enjoyment. Other times it may be best to just ‘burn down the house’ and begin again.
This nest has seen many seasons, and seemingly many occupants. This nest has been of service, has done its duty, provided for generations. And now it is ready for the pyre, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. All destined for the surrounding soil, as nutrients, as nourishment. The next generation of high desert critters will both eat of, and build nests with, what grows in this nourished soil.
It’s a cycle, and it’s a circle, just like this nest. May the warm fires transform and carry all this sacred DNA into the dawning of the new. May we breathe in this new life reflected before us, in all its glowing glory.
